CAEF The European Foundry Association represented the interests of European foundries in Seville. During a two-day workshop finalising the questionnaire for data collection in the context of the revision of the Best Available Techniques (BREF document) for foundries and smitheries, CAEF´s focus was to provide technical input as well as to avoid unnecessary enhancement of the survey. Considering the involved authorities representatives´ limited knowledge of foundry-specific processes, this is a challenge. Therefore, CAEF is working on the revision in close cooperation with companies and national foundry associations, but also with the related authorities. To improve the BREF process, the members of the Technical Working Group have been invited by the Swedish Foundry Association to visit some plants in Sweden.
